Mythical Kraken Facts Revealed - A scientist claims that he found evidence of the existence of 'Kraken', a giant octopus which is said in the ancient folklore it can destroy the ship and eat whales.
Mark McMenamin, a paleontologist from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, United States (U.S.), said that he had found the remaining evidence of the existence of sea creatures which supposedly was 'Kraken'.
McMenamin said that he found the evidence that was expected to be a giant octopus with a length of 30 meters. He found that evidence obtained from former injuries by ichthyosaurs, giant marine reptiles in dinosaur age, from his fight with the Kraken.
The scientist claimed that he saw the former of giant octopus suckers on the fossil bones of ichthyosaurs. This discovery began when McMenamin examining nine fossil of Ichthyisaurus in Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park in Nevada, USA.
Not only marks on the bones of ichthyosaurs, but McMenamin said that based on the arrangement of bones were found, it is estimated that the Kraken had drowned and broken neck bones of ichthyosaurs, and brought to the nest in the deep sea.
"Because the octopus is a soft-boned creature, then there is no fossil evidence. But the former mold of tentacles can prove that the giant octopus really existed," said McMenamin.
The results of this study were presented at a regular meeting at the Geological Society of America in Minneapolis, United States.
