Green vehicles concept is increasingly popular lately. This is due to the influence of the global warming that its effects began to be felt now. After Toyota with its famous slogan “Mobil Keluarga Ideal Terbaik Indonesia” created and tested hybrid car, now Honda’s turn to test its electric car.
Honda announced this week that it is beginning a test program of all varieties of electric vehicles, scooters, and carts and will partner with Saitama Prefecture to test urban-style green transportation. Honda announced a similar green initiative earlier this month for Torrance, Calif.
Honda’s new line of test green vehicles includes an electric car that can travel more than 100 miles in a single six-hour charge, a plug-in hybrid that maxes out at 9 to 15.5 miles in all-electric mode, an electric scooter (the EV-neo), and an electric car (the Monpal ML200).
About the power, According to Bloomberg News citing Honda’s research and development boss Tomohiko Kawanabe, Honda will be using car batteries from GS Yuasa Corp., a Kyoto, Japan-based battery company, for its plug-in electric cars.
Although the green vehicles being popularized recently. But the customers seem not interested to change their vehicle, one of them is American citizens. They still like using gasoline vehicle which of course has a higher speed compared with electric car (Read: Six Fastest Automobiles in North America).
But the prediction, by 2012 electric car market will begin to rise. This is based on the plans of General Motors (GM) to Honda and almost every major automaker that will have at least one plug-in car on the market by the end of 2012. Toyota alone will have three, including the Rav4 EV SUV and the Prius plug-in.
