Apple Officially Remove Name of 'Mac' From OS X Mountain Lion

Apple Officially Remove Name of 'Mac' From OS X Mountain Lion - With the launch of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion in the middle of last year, Apple has actually hinted that they would immediately remove the name of 'Mac' from the 'Mac OS X', a name that has been so familiar for over 10 years.

Although still use the name 'Mac OS X' for the press release business, but Apple itself has called the new system as 'OS X Lion' whether in web pages and product pages on the Mac App Store.

But now The Verge noted that Apple seems to have completed the transition to 'OS X', either on the product page for Mountain Lion and when announce it as a preview for developers. When confirmed this to Apple, The Verge got the answer that Apple is more likely to use the 'OS X Mountain Lion.'

Meanwhile for the Macintosh, this brand will continue to be used by Apple, but they seem to be more focused on its use for the hardware rather than software problem.

The name of Lion is the beginning of the union between Mac OS and iOS, Steve Jobs illustrated it as 'what happens if a MacBook Air is paired with an iPad.' iOS itself is based on Mac OS X, and both have more similarities than differences in the basic level.

By eliminating the name of 'Mac' from the name of the OS is clearly reinforce the indication of the union and emphasizing the difference of its use between for hardware and software purposes.
