Barack Obama's agenda in Indonesia is not in accordance with the previous plan (Read: The Activities Plan of Obama in Indonesia). The problem of Merapi volcano make Obama's visit in Indonesia should be in shortening.
Some activities that have already prepared are not executed by Obama, such as meeting with the House of Representatives and visiting the tomb of heroes. After giving a lecture on the campus of the University of Indonesia, Obama headed straight to the airport of Halim Perdana Kusuma to continue his visit to several countries.
However, there is one thing that might be liked by Obama so much during his visit in Indonesia. Finally he could eat his favorite Indonesian food again, that is fried rice, satay and bakso (meatballs).
Here are Three Obama’s focuses in Indonesia
1. Investment
Barrack Obama wants U.S. investment in Indonesia to be number one. "We do not like to be number three. We'll be number one. And we will do research together," he said.
2. Increasing the cooperation in student exchange programs
The Indonesian government and the U.S. agreed to enhance cooperation in student exchange programs in two years. "I thank to President Yudhoyono for the addition of U.S. students in Indonesia," Obama said
3. Cooperation in security field
Obama also will increase cooperation in security, including counter-terrorism and pirates.
In his speech, Obama also praised the Indonesian government had in some respects, such as its efforts to address climate change, fighting corruption and upholding human rights. "I think all must learn from Indonesia," Obama said.
