No doubt if Rapidshare is one of the largest 'digital locker' in virtual world. Therefore, many people who thought that this site will be closed like Megaupload.
But according to a spokesman for Rapidshare, Daniel Raimer, they did not worry about the fate of this site in the future. "The file hosting is a legitimate business, we did not worry about such attacks," said Raimer.
Rapidshare and Megaupload are making a living in the same way, both storage giants provide a special space for their users to store data that can be downloaded at any time by anyone.
"True, the technology that is used by Megaupload and Rapidshare are similar. The system is also used by Microsoft SkyDrive, Apple iCloud and others. But our business model is clearly different," said Raimer.
"We're more transparent of doing business. We use real names, address of the original company, and so forth. A radical step towards to Megaupload is reasonable, because the conditions are different," said Raimer.
Rapidshare also claimed to be enrolled in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) which means, this site will not be closed without prior notice. Especially if associated with copyright regulations.
