Cell Phone Virus Infected 1 Million Mobile Phone in China

Cell phone virus is still becoming a serious threat for mobile phones users. Recently, cell phone virus has attacked almost one million mobile phone users in China.

According to Zhou Yonglin, an official with China's National Computer Network Emergency Response Team, about 1 million cell phones had been infected since the beginning of September costing their users a total of two million yuan ($300,000) per day, and mobile operators were having difficulty eradicating the malicious application, owing to the breakneck pace of new variations appearing.

Cell phone virus or usually called with "zombie virus" could get into the mobile phone by pretending as anti-virus application. After users install this application on their mobile phones, then all existing data on the SIM card will be taken up by hackers. Then the hacker will control the mobile phone to send messages to all people who is listed in the mobile phone.

The messages usually consist of pay-per-click ads and links. If one clicks on the link, the virus will then implant itself in the phone causing it to spread quickly.

One victim told Xinhua state news that “the payment list showed that I had sent messages to my friends at midnight and even some to other phone numbers which I didn't know.”
