An earthquake with 4.8 on the Richter scale hits southwestern of China, it makes 64,500 people displaced. The earthquake has destroyed hundreds of homes, state media said Wednesday.
The quake struck the area of Dehong, Yunnan province Tuesday afternoon, causing one house collapsed and damaged nearly 229 homes. More than 400 houses suffered minor damage, Xinhua news agency said.
Until now there is no reports of casualties. China is one of the countries that are often struck by the earthquake. Last year, nearly 3,000 people dead or missing after a powerful earthquake hit the northwestern region of China. In 2008 a strong earthquake in Sichuan province killed at least 80,000 people.
